When updating BIOS for Intel® Core™ Ultra Desktop Processors (Series 2), it is crucial to also update the latest Intel® Management Engine (Intel® ME). Intel® Core™ Ultra Desktop Processors (Series 2) management engine includes important processor microcode components that are vital for the proper functioning of Intel processors, along with providing essential security, management, and performance features. Failing to update the Intel® ME alongside the BIOS and Microcode, may result in unexpected platform behavior.

Note Some system manufacturers may have the Microcode/ME update separate from the system BIOS under the same Zip file. Consequently, flashing of a single file is not enough to ensure update of ME.

Consider the following:

  • Intel® Management Engine (Intel® ME), may also be listed as Intel® Converged Security and Management Engine (Intel® CSME) or Intel® Converged Security Engine (Intel® CSE). For more info visit What is Intel® Management Engine?
  • The Intel® ME, Intel® CSME, or Intel® CSE updates are provided by system manufacturers along with BIOS and Microcode and other firmware updates. Some system manufacturers may have separate BIOS and management engine, others may bundle them together.
  • Ensure that both the BIOS and management engine are updated to their latest versions to avoid potential issues.

For a seamless update process, always refer to your system manufacturer instructions and download the necessary updates from their official website.
