Description

Is Intel® Xeon E-2478 Processor affected by Thermal Velocity Boost (eTVB) issue?

Resolution

Intel® Thermal Velocity Boost (Intel® TVB) is a feature that opportunistically increases clock frequency when thermal headroom and turbo power budget are available.

According to the documentation, the Intel® Xeon® E-2478 Processor does support Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB), also known as eTVB (enhanced Thermal Velocity Boost) or Adaptive Boost Technology.

  • The Intel Xeon E-2478 processor has a base clock speed of 2.5 GHz and a max turbo frequency of 3.5 GHz.
  • It also supports Thermal Velocity Boost, which allows the processor to temporarily increase its frequency above the maximum turbo frequency when the system is operating below a certain temperature threshold.
