Ansys EnSight* Does Not Recognize Intel® Arc™ Pro GPUs, and “Use GPU cache” Rendering Option Not Supported

Content Type: Troubleshooting   |   Article ID: 000099226   |   Last Reviewed: 09/04/2024

Environment

Operating System Windows 11* Family, Windows® 10 family

Description

When trying to render a GPU-accelerated visualization in Ansys EnSight* the Intel® Arc™ Pro GPU is not recognized and the Use GPU cache UI option will not be available.

Resolution

To use the built-in or discrete Intel® Arc™ Pro GPU with Ansys EnSight*, users should:

  1. Configure your Windows system environment variables by opening the System Settings menu.
  2. Search for system environment variables and select Edit system environment variables.
  3. Select Environment Variables.
  4. Create the following new value within your System environment variables in the Variable name field: CEI_BLACKLIST_GFX=
  5. Enter the following into the Variable value option: 1
  6. Once the new persistent Windows system environment variable is added, restart Ansys EnSight* for it to take effect.
  7. Launching the Ansys EnSight* application will enable it to now open in GPU rendering mode instead of software rendering mode. Ansys Ensight* will now use the local Intel® Arc™ Pro GPU.

You typically need administrator privileges to add new system environment variables.

The unavailable Use GPU cache option remains a known issue and the Ansys EnSight* development team are working to resolve this defect.
