Description

I can't figure out the correct way to expand the capacity of a RAID 10 volume.

Resolution

While the Intel® RAID Controller RS3DC080 supports Online Capacity Expansion (OCE), OCE for a spanned RAID array such as RAID 10, 50 and 60 is not supported.

To expand the capacity of a spanned RAID array, you will need to:

  1. Backup your current spanned RAID array.
  2. Delete current array and recreate a new array with all the drives including the newly added ones.
  3. Restore the backup to the new array.
