Error Received: "Out of Memory to Allocate a Graphic" on Intel® Arc™ Graphics

Content Type: Error Messages   |   Article ID: 000098276   |   Last Reviewed: 10/26/2026

Environment

Operating System

Windows 11* Family, Windows® 10 family

Description

Affected Products

  • Intel® Arc™ A-Series Graphics (A310, A380, A580, A750, A770)
  • Intel® Arc™ B-Series Graphics (B570, B580)
  • Intel® Arc™ Pro Graphics

How to Identify This Error You may see one of the following messages while launching or playing a game, or running a GPU-intensive application:

  • "Out of Memory to Allocate a Graphic"
  • "Out of Memory trying to allocate a rendering resource"
  • "Not enough video memory"

These messages indicate that the application is requesting more GPU video memory (VRAM) than is currently available on your Intel® Arc™ graphics card.

    Resolution

    Troubleshooting Steps

    1. Lower in-game graphics settings. Reduce texture quality, shadow resolution, and anti-aliasing. High-resolution textures are the most common cause of VRAM exhaustion.
    2. Reduce the game's rendering resolution. Running at 4K or high resolutions significantly increases VRAM demand. Try 1440p or 1080p.
    3. Close background applications. Other GPU-accelerated apps (browsers with hardware acceleration, video players, streaming software) consume shared VRAM. Close them before launching the game.
    4. Disable hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling (HAGS) if enabled. In some configurations this can affect VRAM allocation. Go to Windows Settings > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings.
    5. Update your Intel® Arc™ graphics driver to the latest version using Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA).
    6. Perform a clean driver reinstall using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode, then install the latest driver fresh.
    7. Verify game files through your game launcher (Steam, Epic Games, etc.) to rule out corrupted assets.

Are you also experiencing BSODs, system crashes, or instability?

If you are using a 13th or 14th Generation Intel® Core™ desktop processor (e.g., i5-13600K, i7-13700K, i9-13900K, i9-14900K) and you are seeing this "Out of Memory" error alongside any of the following symptoms, your issue may be related to a known CPU instability issue — not your graphics card:

    • Frequent Blue Screens of Death (BSODs)
    • System crashes or unexpected reboots
    • Application crashes under multi-app or heavy workloads
    • "Out of Memory" errors in browsers (Chrome, Edge) or non-GPU applications
    • Errors during file extraction (7-Zip, WinRAR)

In that case, the graphics troubleshooting steps above are unlikely to resolve your issue.
