Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) Showing 800MHz on Random Cores

Content Type: Troubleshooting   |   Article ID: 000096704   |   Last Reviewed: 11/13/2023

Environment

Intel® XTU

Description

Intel® XTU may show random cores with frequency of 800MHz when idling.

Resolution

Some cores may show 800MHz within Intel® XTU, as this is the minimum frequency without the core being completely shut down. Since Intel® XTU is a Windows*-based performance-tuning software, this is an indication that Windows is not using those cores, which is subject to change based on processor usage. This is considered normal behavior in an idle state.
