Unable to Enable Wake-On LAN for Intel® i210-AT on Intel® NUC 9 Extreme Kit

Environment

Windows 11* Family, Windows® 10 family

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Summary

Enable Wake-On LAN for Intel® i210-AT on Intel® NUC 9 Extreme Kit through Device Manager.

Description

The Wake-On LAN (WOL) feature is not functioning correctly on the Intel® i210-AT LAN adapter of the Ghost Canyon and Quartz Canyon models. However, the Intel® NUC 9 Extreme Kit can be successfully awakened using the Intel® Ethernet i219-LM adapter.

Resolution

By default, the Wake-On LAN functionality is disabled on the Intel® Ethernet i210-AT adapter on the NUC 9 Pro Kit, which helps reduce power consumption. It's important to note that WOL is only supported on one port for most multi-adapters, and each enabled interface increases power consumption.

Enable Wake-On LAN for Intel® i210-AT on Intel® NUC 9 Extreme Kit by following the steps below:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Network Adapters section and double-click the Intel® I210 Gigabit Network Controller.
  3. Select the Advanced Tab.
  4. Locate the Enable PME option and change its value to Enable.
  5. Click the OK to save the changes.
