Unable to Start the Intel® QuickAssist Technology (Intel® QAT) Service in Linux*

Intel® QuickAssist Technology (Intel® QAT)

Description

  • QAT error: QAT: Could not find a device on node 0.
  • Uncertainty about setting up the QAT service.

Resolution

  1. Check if the Intel® QAT hardware is visible to the system by running the lspci command.
    1. For Hardware Version 1.x, run the following command: lspci -nn | egrep -e '8086:37c8|8086:19e2|8086:0435|8086:6f54'
    2. For Hardware Version 2.0, run the following command: lspci -nn | egrep -e '8086:37c8|8086:19e2|8086:0435|8086:6f54|8086:4940|8086:4942|8086:4944|8086:4946'
  2. Verify the correct Intel® QAT driver is being used for your hardware. See Which Intel® QuickAssist Technology (Intel® QAT) Driver Should Be Used Based on the Platform?
  3. Ensure the Intel® QAT driver is installed as per the Getting Started Guide:
    1. For Hardware Version 1.x, consult Intel® QuickAssist Technology (Intel® QAT) Getting Started Guide for Linux* for Customer Enabling (CE) Release
    2. For Hardware Version 2.0, consult Intel® QuickAssist Technology (Intel® QAT) Getting Started Guide for Linux* for Hardware Version 2.0
  4. Attempt to run the sample application code as instructed in the guides above.
