What is the difference between QAT in Processor D-2700 (D-2766NT) and 4th Generation Intel® Xeon (8458p) and QuickAssist Adapter 8970?

Resolution

The hardware required to run the Intel® QuickAssist Technology (Intel® QAT) software was originally available as a PCIe card. The most recent ones are the Intel® QuickAssist Adapter 8960 and the Intel® QuickAssist Adapter 8970.

Later one, such hardware started to be added into some Intel® Atom® Processors and Intel® Xeon® D Processors. The most recent Intel® Processor family with integrated Intel® QAT accelerators is the 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors.

Additional information

The hardware that runs the Intel® QuickAssist Technology software is divided in two groups: Hardware Version 1.x and Hardware Version 2.x. The specific Intel® QAT driver to use will depend on the hardware version used.
