Description

  • High GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) usage when watching videos on YouTube.
  • Unstable frame rate when watching high-resolution HDR (High Dynamic Range) videos.

Resolution

YouTube ambient mode uses a lighting effect to make watching videos in Dark theme more immersive by casting gentle colors from the video, into your screen’s background, but this may cause performance issues on low-end graphics card or integrated graphics card systems.

Disable ambient mode if you observe a performance loss when watching high-resolution HDR videos.

  1. In the watch page, click Settings.
  2. Click Ambient mode.
  3. Toggle to turn off Ambient mode for all videos.
