How to Enable Preboot Direct Memory Access (DMA) Protection in Intel® Server System M50CYP Environments with Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC)?

Environment

Intel® Server System M50CYP Family Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC) Windows* Server 2022

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Summary

Preboot DMA Protection cannot be enabled in M50CYP systems if VROC is being used

Description

If an Intel® Server System M50CYP Family environment is working with a RAID volume configured with Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC), it is possible to enable Secure Boot in the BIOS (basic input/output system). However, if the preboot DMA Protection is enabled as well, the operating system cannot boot anymore.

Resolution

The driver for Intel® VROC doesn't support preboot DMA protection. It is only possible to enable it in the Intel® Server System M50CYP Family if there are no volumes configured with Intel® VROC.
