Guidelines to Support the Nvidia A2 GPU Card on the Intel® Server M50CYP Family

This article explains the conditions that must be met to support the Nvidia A2 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) card on the Intel® Server System M50CYP Family.

Nvidia GPU Model: NVIDIA PG179 SKU 220

Intel Server systems: M50CYP1UR204, M50CYP1UR212 and M50CYP2UR208

The M50CYP1UR204 and M50CYP1UR212 systems support up to 2 GPU cards and the M50CYP2UR208 supports up to 4 GPU cards. Consider that the GPU cards are 16 PCIe lanes, so the system slot where the card is installed must be 16 PCIe lanes electrical.

All the mentioned systems will detect the presence of the GPU and automatically adjust the fan speed to fan profile 7. Depending on the ambient temperature and the riser and slot where the cards are installed, this automatic setting may or may not be sufficient and the user might need to manually adjust the fan speed.
