Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) Version 14 and Older Are Not Working with Intel® Endpoint Management Assistant (Intel® EMA) on Windows Server* 2022

Content Type: Troubleshooting   |   Article ID: 000093800   |   Last Reviewed: 09/11/2023

Environment

Operating System

Windows Server 2016 Family*, Windows 11* Family, Windows Server 2022 Family, Windows Server 2019 family*, Windows® 10 family
AMT version 14 and old

Description

A common symptom is round 2 failures in the Intel® EMA management logs
Warning: Unable to connect to Intel AMT computer for round 2, 127.0.0.1:61734

Resolution

This failure is caused by older crypto ciphers that are less secure and deprecated.  TLS Crypto requirements of Windows* 2022 have become more restrictive than 2019.

Allow older TLS protocols that work with Intel® AMT 14 and older versions.

  1. Download or copy Internet Information Services IIS Crypto from Nartac* Software onto the Intel® EMA server.  It can be found here https://www.nartac.com/Products/IISCrypto/
  2. Allow the server to use older Server and client TLS Protocols.

Note

Intended for example purposes and it is a liberal application of allowing older TLS versions. Intel® EMA administrators are expected to verify and follow appropriate security and compliance policies mandated by their organizations.
