Laptop Screen Light Changes from Normal to Dim If an Application Is Launched or Closed

After using Intel® Driver Support Assistant to update the Intel® Graphics to 31.0.101.3790 or 31.0.101.2114, the unusual screen light behavior occurred.

Steps to troubleshoot if the unusual screen light behavior is caused by a driver or hardware failure.

• From the Device Manager, select Microsoft Basic Display Adapter as default graphics.
• Check to see if the screen light behavior changes when an application is launched or closed.
• Use an external monitor to see if the screenlight on the external monitor changes as well.
• Determine if the laptop recognizes Intel Generic Driver as incompatibility may be the source of the issue. Some laptops requires a genuine Original Equment Manufactured driver. Download and install the manufacturer's recommended Intel Graphics driver.
• If the issue persist contact the Original Equipment Manufacturer for Assistance.
