Environment

Operating System

Windows® 10*, Windows 11* Family
Laptop with iGPU and dGPU

Description

Some apps prefer to use my iGPU instead of my Intel Arc Graphics Discrete Graphics Card. I see the usage with task manager and the app uses the iGPU.

Resolution

  1. Install the latest driver for your Intel Graphics device, visit Intel Download Center and choose the appropriate drivers for your system.
  2. Go to Display settings --> Graphics --> Custom settings for applications
  3. Search and choose the app to set preference
  4. Click on GPU Preference --> Set Graphics preference to the one listing your Intel Graphics Device.
  5. Reboot the system or relaunch the application.
  6. Check if you see your available dGPU being used in the Performance tab of the Task Manager
    1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc key combination to open Task Manager
NoteSome applications may be locked by the ISV to run on specific GPUs. In such cases you need to check with OEM.
