Wireless Clients Are Unable to Connect When Using Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX210 and WPA2-Enterprise Security Protocol

Content Type: Troubleshooting   |   Article ID: 000091518   |   Last Reviewed: 08/01/2023

Environment

Operating System

Windows® 10 family
Cisco 9115 series Access Point, Cisco WLC with software v8.10.171.0; Windows 10 21H2; Wireless drivers 22.100.0.3-22.130.0.5-22.140.0

Description

When using the WPA2-Enterprise security protocol (also known as WPA-802.1X) with encryption type AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and the machine's certificate, the wireless clients with Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX210 will associate with the Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) but will not complete the authentication process.

However, when connecting to hotspot networks or other networks using the basic security protocol WPA2 Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK) the wireless clients connect fine.

Resolution

Try these steps to solve the issue:

  1. Update to the latest wireless driver available on Download Center.
  2. Update the WLC firmware.

If the behavior persists, replicate the issue and collect Over-the-Air (OTA) traces from the ISP site and then contact Intel® Customer Support.
