Description

The Intel® Server System R1304WFTYSR will completely shut down within minutes if the ambient temperature is raised to 35°C during enclosed thermal testing.

Resolution

The fully integrated system is designed to operate at external ambient temperature of 10-35°C with limited/short-term excursion based operation up to 45°C with limited performance impact, meaning that a complete system shutdown is not the expected behavior.

It is important to take into consideration the thermal limitations of other components in the system, as there have been reports of systems shutting down due to the storage units exceeding their corresponding operating thresholds or temperature gradients set by their manufacturers.
