BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Summary

Explains why one out of the 6 system fans still runs even after shutting down the system.

Description

With BIOS R01.01.0005, System Fan 4 runs at a lower RPM even when the Intel® Server System M50CYP is shutdown. Rest of the fans stop spinning.

Resolution

This is an expected behavior when the system is running BIOS version R01.01.0005.

With R01.01.0005 BIOS, S5 state support is added to OCP NIC card when configured to be used as a shared BMC. System fan 4 is running to cool the OCP NIC card in S5 state.
