Content Type: Install & Setup   |   Article ID: 000090391   |   Last Reviewed: 03/11/2026

Description

BIOS is unable to recognize the drives in slots 4-7.

Resolution

To use the 12 NVMe slots in the Intel® Server System M50CYP1UR212 requires:

  • 1U PCIe Riser CYPRISER3RTM (Only compatible with the Riser Slot 3)
  • SlimSAS Cable (Riser/Retimers to Backplane Kit) CYPCBLSLRTKIT
  • Cable kit iPC CYPCBLSL112KIT (This kit connected the backplane and the server board.)

Cable routing:

  • The cables that connect the Hot Swap Backplane (HSBP) #1 should be routed along the left of the chassis, and are connected directly to the board ports.
  • The cables that connect the HSBP #2 should be routed through the middle of the fan assembly and connected directly to the board ports.
  • The cables (CYPCBLSLRTKIT) that connect the HSBP #3 should be route through the right edge side of the chassis to the RIser CYPRISER3RTM to properly connect them.
