Environment

Operating System

Windows 11, 64-bit*, Windows® 10, 64-bit*
Intel® Arc™ Control Version 1.0.3775.0 Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA)

Description

Seeing "Error installing driver" when prompted to install a graphics driver with a higher version number.

Resolution

This will be resolved with future driver releases.

This occurs because the graphics driver installer first checks the driver date of the driver offered for upgrade. If the offered driver date is older than the one currently installed, the installer will skip installation. Although a driver has a higher version number, this does not mean the release date of the driver is newer.

Example:

  • The current driver is 30.0.101.1325, the inf file date is 03/11/2022
  • The driver offered is 30.0.101.1404, the inf file date is 02/18/2022

In the above example, 30.0.101.1325 is the latest driver based on release date, so 30.0.101.1404 should not be installed.
