Description

Encountering a blue screen error with the message DRIVER VERIFIER DMA VIOLATION after enabling Intel® VT-d in the BIOS of Intel® Server Board M50CYP2SBSTD.

Resolution

In order to fix the blue screen error with the error message DRIVER VERIFIER DMA VIOLATION you need to perform the following steps:

  1. Enable the Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT) for Directed I/O (Intel® VT-d) in the BIOS.
  2. Set the Limit CPU PA to 46 bits option to Enable. This setting is disabled by default and must be enabled to limit the CPU physical address to 46 bits, supporting older Hyper-V versions.
  3. This adjustment serves as a workaround for Intel® VT-d functionality due to an OS issue when booting with Windows Server 2019*.

Additional information

The information can be found in the BIOS Setup Utility User Guide For the Intel® Server Board D50TNP and M50CYP family (Page 32, point 22 Limit CPU PA to 46 bits)
