Description

Unable to locate the Intel® SGX (Software Guard Extensions) option in BIOS setup menu and need to make this security feature available for configuration.

Resolution

The Intel® SGX option is hidden in BIOS until specific memory and processor prerequisites are properly configured. TME (Total Memory Encryption) must be enabled and certain memory features must be disabled before Intel® SGX becomes available

  1. Access the BIOS.
  2. During boot, press F2.
  3. Go to Advanced > Processor Configuration and make sure Total Memory Encryption(TME) is Enabled.
  4. Go to Advanced > Memory Configuration > Memory RAS and Performance Configuration and set options as follows:
    • UMA-Based Clustering → Disabled
    • Memory Corrected Error → Enabled
    • Patrol Scrub → Disable
    • Memory Mirroring Possible → Disable
    • Mirror Mode → Disable
  5. Then go to Advanced > Processor Configuration. The Intel® SGX option can be found.
  6. Press F10 to save all changes and exit BIOS and allow the system to restart

After the system restarts, verify Intel® SGX is properly enabled
