Steps to solve issue of Windows Notifications not showing up.

Windows* Notifications are not working with the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application when using Product Version 17.9.1008.0, Driver Version, and a system with an 8th Generation Whiskey Lake Mobile Processor. When there is a critical event such as RAID degrading, drive disconnected, or other event, there are no notifications shown in the Windows® Notification Center even when the application shows that the Windows Notification feature is Enabled. Using Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST) User Interface instead, the Windows Notifications work fine.

Intel® RST or Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application versions 17.x and above will not come with a notification area or tray icon to notify about failures. The Notifications feature is now handled by the operating system and this will only work through Microsoft Notification Center. Messages will be displayed if the option within the Intel RST/Intel Optane console is enabled and Windows will take care of notifications.

Any time Intel RST/Intel Optane detects an issue or new events, it will communicate with Microsoft Notification Center and will display the message on the notification area from Windows. For this to work properly, Windows needs to have notifications active. Make sure that notifications are also enabled on the app and on Windows Settings.

Follow these steps:
1. Enable Notifications on Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management:

  1. Open the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management app.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Under Notifications settings, click Change settings.
  4. Enable Notifications.

2. Enable Notifications on Windows:

  1. Click the Windows Start button and select the settings gear in the lower-left corner.
  2. Click System.
  3. Select Notifications & actions.
  4. Confirm the option Get notifications from apps and other senders is enabled.
  5. Scroll down to see Get notifications from these sendersShow notifications from these apps, or similar and enable notifications for Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management.
