Description

Cannot find the Moisture Sensitivity Labeling (MSL) of an Intel® Xeon® Processor.

Resolution

Intel® Xeon® processors support moisture sensitivity labeling (MSL) according to the packaging material. Specifically, boxed LGA packaged processors are classified as MSL 1 (unlimited or unaffected) since they are not heated in order to be inserted in the socket. The processors in a non-operational state should be handled in accordance with MSL as indicated on the packaging material.

All FCLGA socket-based Intel® Xeon® Processors support Moisture Sensitivity Labeling (MSL) 1 or MSL 1 (unlimited or unaffected).

Where to Find Specific MSL Info?

  • Product Labeling: The MSL is typically printed on the packaging label of the tray or reel.
  • Intel Quality Documents: You can find specific MSL information in Intel's Material Declaration Data Sheets (MDDS) or Packing Specifications for the exact Xeon SKU you're using.
