Explains why BIOS settings are greyed out and unable to change for Intel® Server System M50CYP.

Description

Unable to change BIOS settings. All options are greyed out.

Resolution

Check if you have logged into BIOS using User Password instead of Administrator password. Restart the system and log in using Administrator  password to change BIOS settings.

During boot, system will prompt to enter password as shown below. Enter Administrator password here:

To clear password, use the Passwd_Clr jumper on the Intel® Server Board. Refer to the Technical Product Specification of the Intel Server Board for the jumper location and procedure to clear the password.

To find the Technical Product Specification of your Server Board, refer to the Self-help Collection of Technical Product Specifications for Intel® Server Products page.

To set the password, go to BIOS settings (press F2 during boot) and select the Security option in the main menu. Refer to Figure 2.
