How to Enable Wi-Fi 6E/ 6GHz Band Using Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX210 (Gig+)

Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX210 (Gig+) supports the new 6GHz band for Wi-Fi. Usage of the 6GHz band relies on Operating System support, which is expected in the next version of Microsoft Windows*. Please contact Microsoft for additional details.

Also note, the use of the 6GHz band may be prohibited by regulatory in your country or might not be enabled on your platform by the system manufacturer.

For developers, enterprise or technical testers who are interested in enabling and testing the new 6E/6GHz features in Microsoft pre-release builds (specifically Windows Insider Preview builds), please follow the instructions below:

Important Notes
  • The Windows Insider Preview Builds are pre-release software and services that might not be fully validated. Please use at your own discretion.
  • Please contact and work directly with Microsoft for wireless issues on Windows Insider Preview Builds.

For a Wi-Fi 6E laptop setup:

Windows image - You have two options.

Option 1:

  • Directly install Windows Insider Preview image from ISO – download from the following Windows Insider download page. (You may need to register and login to have access to download.)
    You want to select Dev ChannelBuild 21286 or later.

Option 2:

  • Install regular/current Windows Operating System and enable Windows Update, sign up for Windows Insider preview ,and have the machine upgraded through Windows Update process. Please visit the Microsoft Windows Insider page for additional information.
  • Use latest Windows® 10 Wi-Fi drivers for Intel® Wireless adapters version 22.40.0.7 or later.
  • Please note that a 6GHz compatible router is required for 6E functionality.

If in the United States, the above is all you need for the Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX210 (Gig+) to operate in 6GHz. Be aware that the use of the 6GHz band may be prohibited by regulatory in your country or might not be enabled on your platform by the system manufacturer.
