Description

The server crashed and became inoperative due to a hardware error. A PSOD with PCI (peripheral component interconnect) error was displayed.

Resolution

  1. Analyze the Purple Screen of Death (PSOD) event and take a screenshot (This can help in troubleshooting)
  2. Restart the server.
  3. Monitor the system and check if it crashes again.
  4. If the server crashes, extract System Event Log (SEL) logs and check for errors.
  5. The logs can show errors related to add-in cards or other components. In this scenario, re-seat the said part.
