Screen Flickering Issues on Laptops with Intel® Integrated Graphics Card When Using Microsoft Applications and Browsers

Environment

Intel® Iris® Plus Graphics integrated in Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1065G7 CPU in HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-aw0xxx computer.

When using Microsoft applications or browsers, the screen flickers or distorts.

Description

Flickering issue on laptops with Intel® Integrated Graphics in the processor.

Resolution

Disabling hardware acceleration can assist to reduce or eliminate screen flickering.

Follow these steps to disable acceleration:

  1. Open any office document (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc...).
  2. Click on the file tab.
  3. Select options.
  4. Select advanced.
  5. Scroll down to the Display section.
  6. Disable hardware graphics acceleration [check this option].

Follow these steps to disable Internet Explorer and Google Chrome's Hardware Acceleration.

  1. Open the browser.
  2. Click the menu icon.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. In the Settings menu, expand the Advanced drop-down section found in the left sidebar.
  5. Select System.
  6. Find the Use hardware acceleration when available setting. Toggle the switch to the Off position.
  7. Click Relaunch to apply the changes.
