Description

Hard drive errors occur when shrinking volume on diskpart management. The system then requests that the user execute chkdsk in CMD (Command Prompt).

Resolution

The issue is caused by attempting to run chkdsk at a command prompt without Administrator Privileges.

Follow these steps to resolve the permission issue: 

  1. Stop the application first or reboot the computer in safe mode to ensure nothing is using the drive.
  2. Click Start
  3. Type "cmd" in the Search box.
  4. Right click on Command Prompt
  5. Left click on Run as administrator.
  6. Execute chkdsk [volume]
