The Total Physical Memory Is Incorrect According to The System

There are several reasons for incorrect total physical memory capacity:

  • Some overload loss (around 2%-3%) is to be expected.
  • In Memory Mode, DRAM memory is used as cache. Therefore, DRAM memory is not counted toward total memory.
  • Violation of population rules for Intel® Optane™ PMem and DRAM will likely provide unexpected capacity. See Module DIMM Population for Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory.
  • A processor's SKU suffix determines total memory capacity.
    • No Suffix - 1 TB per socket
    • M - 2 TB per socket
    • L - 4.5 TB per socket
    • For additional information about memory capacity suffixes, see About Intel® Processors.
