Why Does Processor Have Higher Temperature When Playing Video Game?

Content Type: Troubleshooting   |   Article ID: 000034902   |   Last Reviewed: 07/12/2021

Environment

Intel® Processors

Description

Getting temp of 40-50 degrees when I'm just on Internet, but when I'm playing video game, it is around 65-75 degrees. Is this normal?

Resolution

This is normal behavior. The processor's temperature will vary depending on the workload. It’s not possible to quantify “normal” temperatures within the operating range due to the dynamic nature of processor workloads and the variables associated with system design specifics, such as the CPU thermal solution, chassis, and system level fan speed control parameters.
