Content Type: Troubleshooting   |   Article ID: 000029160   |   Last Reviewed: 09/16/2022

Environment

Operating System

Windows Server 2016 Family*

What am I seeing?

There's an unidentified device in the Device Manager - Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) storage controller.

Why am I seeing this?

The unidentified device is related to the 4-Port PCIe Gen3 x8 Switch AIC AXXP3SWX08040 or 8-Port PCIe Gen3 x8 Switch AIC AXXP3SWX08080 installed on the server system.

This behavior is expected. No functional issue exists as the Windows* OS has no problem working with the switch card.

However, the Windows OS detects the switch card as an unidentified device; therefore, it's a cosmetic issue.

Note:  This article will be updated after the cosmetic issue is addressed.
