Identify Devices with Errors in Device Manager for the Intel® NUC

What are you seeing?

Device Manager shows one or more errors (Yellow bangs) in the list of devices.  Errors in Device Manager usually occur if:

  • There is a missing driver that needs to be installed or
  • A driver isn't working properly.

 

Tip

Most driver issues can be resolved by using Intel® Driver and Support Assistant (IDSA). IDSA will identify the drivers necessary to remove yellow bangs in device manager, and ensure you're using the latest drivers

 

Manually Install Drivers: How to identify what device is having issues and the proper driver to be installed

To identify the device that needs a driver:

  1. Press the Windows Key and X keys together and select Device Manager.
  2. Double-click the device with the error (a question mark or exclamation point) and select Properties.
  3. See example of Yellow Bang on PCI Device below:

  4. Go to the Details tab and select Hardware IDs.
  5. The vendor ID and device ID display as VEN_xxxx&DEV_xxxx. (Some devices show these values as VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx)

  6. Once you know the Vendor and Device ID, check the list below your Intel® NUC. The link/tables display the following information:
    • The driver you need to download and how
    • Device Manager Category (where the device should appear)
    • Device Description
    • Hardware ID (Vendor and Device ID)
Tip
  • Easily search the page for your specific product
    • Press Control+f (Mac users use Command+f ) 
    • Enter NUC Model
