What is the problem?
RAID volume(s) might not be found by Windows 2008 R2* or Windows 7* during the operating system installation.

This is a Microsoft*/LSI* driver issue with a firmware interaction. If old RAID volumes were created and then deleted, any new RAID volumes might be invisible during the operating system installation.

How to fix it
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. Update the RAID adapter firmware to the latest version. Go to Intel Download Center to find the latest firmware.
  2. Reboot to EFI Shell. Use the sas2flash utility from the firmware package and run command “sas2flash –o –e 3
  3. Reboot and press <Ctrl> <C> when prompted to start the LSI MPT* SAS BIOS Configuration Utility. Check RAID volume status. Select Activate Array on the Manage Array screen and then press <Y> to activate the RAID volume if needed.
  4. Quit and reboot to start the Windows install.
