Hard Drive Partitioning Issue Installing Windows 7* 64 Bit Edition on Intel® Workstation Boards

Issue description:

  • Issue is seen especially when Windows 7 installation is done through a bootable USB Drive.

  • OS detects 2 partitions. One is of default 100 MB and the other shows the size of the hard drive.

  • While partitioning the HDD the system does not allow to select the Hard Drive.

Issue resolution:

  • Restart the system and enter the CMOS Setup.

  • Change the Boot Priority option to Hard Disk as the Primary Boot Device.

  • Reset the BIOS to Defaults.

Cause:

  • Usually observed when the USB device is set as the First Boot Device.
