Older video files and DVD player applications typically use hardware overlay for optimal video performance.

Newer versions of the Intel® Graphics Control Panel no longer offer the option to adjust gamma settings. Now, this is done using the Display Color Calibration option built-in Windows 10*.

If you have an older operating system and old Intel® Graphics Controller, you can adjust gamma and brightness settings for hardware overlay by performing the following steps:

  1. Right-click the desktop and choose Properties.
  2. Click the Settings tab.
  3. Click the Advanced button.
  4. Click the Intel® Graphics tab. The tab is named one of the following:
    • Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver
    • Intel® Extreme Graphics 2
    • Intel® Extreme Graphics
  5. Click the Graphics Properties button.

    step 5

  6. Click the Video Overlay button. If using an earlier driver version, click the Color tab, and then
    choose Video Overlay.
  7. Use the slider controls to adjust the Gamma and Brightness settings to the desired levels. See
    Figures 1 and 2.
Note Older versions of the graphics drivers (prior to PV 14.4) do not support gamma or brightness adjustment for video overlay. If you don't see the Video Overlay section, update to the latest graphics drivers.
