Calculate the BTUs per hour that Intel® Server System generates

Calculate the heat output (BTU per hour) of your Intel server system for data center cooling planning, HVAC sizing, or facility power and cooling capacity assessment.

Understanding Heat Output Calculation Server heat output equals the electrical power consumed, converted to BTU/hour. This calculation helps determine cooling requirements for your server environment.

Steps:

  1. Get the chassis power supply wattage. For example, the Intel® Server System R1208WT2GSR has one 750W power supply.
  2. Divide the power supply wattage by the power supply efficiency, found in the chassis Technical Product Specification (TPS). Our example server shows 91% efficiency when running at 100% load; 750/0.91 = 824 Watts consumed
  3. Multiply the Watts consumed by 3.41214 to get BTU/h. Our example is: 824*3.41214~=2,812 BTU/h
