How to Find Compatible Motherboards for Your Intel Processor

The Intel® desktop processors can be sold as a retail box to end users who want to build their own desktop PCs.

To find third-party motherboards that are compatible with Intel® Boxed processor, use the Intel® Product Compatibility Tool and use the Desktop and Workstation Processors option.

The tool lists processors by family, and gives the option to search for specific motherboard manufacturer:

Follow these steps to see the full list of third-party motherboard manufacturers:

  1. Identify your processor or note the processor you need to look up. If your processor is Intel® Core™, then identify the generation.
  2. Go to Desktop and Workstation Processors.
  3. Choose from the list the family (example: 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 Processors).
  4. Choose from the list of the available processors the processor you need and click Select.
  5. A list of compatible motherboards will be displayed.

Follow these steps to search for a specific third-party motherboard manufacturer:

  1. Identify your processor or note the processor you need to look up. If your processor is Intel® Core™, then identify the generation.
  2. Go to Desktop and Workstation Processors .
  3. choose Search located on the top-left of the tool.
  4. Under Enter product name to search, enter the processor number.
  5. Under Select product Type, select Desktop and workstation Boards.
  6. Under Select Manufacturer, choose from the available list.
  7. Click Search to get the result.
