What am I seeing?

You are experiencing one or both of the following symptoms:

  • The Microsoft Windows* Action Center (formerly Microsoft Offline Crash Diagnostic tool) directed you to this site after a STOP error message called a BSOD or blue screen error.

  • Your computer stops, crashes, automatically restarts, or displays one of the following error messages:

    • Error: Your PC ran into a problem that it couldn't handle, and now it needs to restart.

    • Error: GfxUI has stopped working.

    • Error: Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

    • Error: Your system has recovered from a serious error. Display driver for the device was unable to complete a drawing operation. Display driver for the [graphics device] seems to be responsible for the instability. Check the manufacturer for a device driver update.

    • Error: The ialmrnt5 display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft.

    • Error: The igxprd32 display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft.

    • Error: The graphics adapter in this system experienced an internal error. Please contact your graphics adapter manufacturer for technical support. The application will now terminate.

    • Error: The driver for the display device got stuck in an infinite loop.

    • Error: 0xEA - Hardware Hang.

    • Error: 0x8E - Access Violation.

    • Error: 0x50 - Memory Issue.

How do I resolve this?

Try each of the following suggestions listed in the order listed, until you find a solution:

  1. Locate and install your latest graphics driver
Your computer manufacturer might have customized drivers and software to enable or alter features, or provide improved operation on your computer. Contact the manufacturer for the latest updates and technical support information.
If you can no longer get driver support from your computer manufacturer, you can download generic Intel drivers.

  2. Update the Microsoft* .NET Framework software on your computer
You can resolve some issues (such as the stopped responding/successfully recovered error message) with a simple update to the systems .NET Framework* software. This software is available from the Microsoft website.

  3. Ensure your Microsoft* operating system is up to date
Regularly updating your system is always a good practice to keep it up to date. Download the latest updates available for your operating system with the Microsoft Windows Update* and be sure to restart your system afterwards for proper installation.

  4. More troubleshooting
If the issue continues after updating the graphics driver, use the following questions to help isolate the issue:

    • Does the issue occur frequently or is it a random issue?
If the issue always occurs when the system is performing a certain operation (such as running a particular application or game), check the software.

    • When was the last time the system worked without errors? What changes were made since then; driver updates, added hardware, or installed software?
Try removing the changes. For instance, uninstall recently added hardware/software or roll back drivers to the previous version to eliminate issues.

    • Do you have the latest system BIOS for your computer?
Check with the computer manufacturer, motherboard manufacturer, or computer vendor for availability of a system BIOS update. Newer graphics drivers sometimes rely on current system BIOS updates.

    • Does the issue happen when your monitor is set to a particular setting?
Return the video resolution settings back to a standard refresh rate and color depth to resolve the issue.
Note In the This applies to: section below, not all operating systems listed are supported by all Intel graphics products. We recommend contacting your computer or motherboard manufacturer for information on the operating systems supported by your computer or motherboard model.
