Summary:
Potential security vulnerabilities in UEFI for some Intel® reference platforms may allow escalation of privilege or information disclosure. Intel is releasing UEFI firmware updates to mitigate these potential vulnerabilities.
Vulnerability Details:
CVEID: CVE-2025-20105
Description: Improper input validation in some UEFI firmware SMM module for the Intel® reference platforms may allow an escalation of privilege. System software adversary with a privileged user combined with a low complexity attack may enable local code execution. This result may potentially occur via local access when attack requirements are present without special internal knowledge and requires no user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (high), integrity (high) and availability (high) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (high), integrity (high) and availability (high) impacts.
CVSS Base Score: 8.7 High
CVSS Vector: CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:H/SA:H
CVEID: CVE-2025-20064
Description: Improper input validation in the UEFI FlashUcAcmSmm module for some Intel® reference platforms may allow an escalation of privilege. System software adversary with a privileged user combined with a high complexity attack may enable local code execution. This result may potentially occur via local access when attack requirements are not present without special internal knowledge and requires no user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (high), integrity (high) and availability (high) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (high), integrity (high) and availability (high) impacts.

Description: Time-of-check time-of-use race condition in the WheaERST SMM module for some Intel® reference platforms may allow an escalation of privilege. System software adversary with a privileged user combined with a high complexity attack may enable escalation of privilege. This result may potentially occur via local access when attack requirements are present without special internal knowledge and requires no user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (high), integrity (high) and availability (high) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (none), integrity (none) and availability (none) impacts.
