A potential security vulnerability in the Kernelflinger open source project maintained by Intel® may allow escalation of privilege.  Intel is releasing source code updates to mitigate this potential vulnerability and has issued a Product Discontinuation Notice for Kernelflinger.

Description: Out-of-bounds write in the Intel(R) Kernelflinger project may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via local access.

Kernelflinger open source project maintained by Intel® before commit id 5081b436def045e3fad5debe0a7ffcf8456b1579 Date: Mon June 28, 2021.


Intel recommends updating Kernelflinger source to commit id 5081b436def045e3fad5debe0a7ffcf8456b1579, Date: Mon June 28, 2021, or later.

Intel has issued a Product Discontinuation notice the Kernelflinger open source project and recommends that users of Kernelflinger uninstall it or discontinue use at their earliest convenience.


This issue was found internally by Intel employees.
