Type Confusion vulnerability which can potentially lead to a privilege escalation. 


The Intel® Content Protection HECI Service has a Type Confusion vulnerability which potentially can lead to a privilege escalation.  The HECI service software is distributed as part of the Intel Graphics Driver, and is used by the graphics driver to provide premium content playback services.

The CVSS V3 rating is 8.8 (High.)  CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H

The Content Protection HECI Service distributed with the Intel Graphics Drivers listed in the following table are affected.  The graphics driver installed on your system can be found on the properties page of the display adapter available in settings or control panel.

All listed drivers have updated versions available.  Check with your system’s manufacturer to see if they provide an updated graphics driver.  Alternatively, you can use the Intel® Driver and Support Assistant to identify and update your driver directly from Intel.  The Driver and Support Assistant can be found at

Direct links to the available graphics drivers can be found at and searching for the relevant version number above.  You can also search for graphics drivers compatible with your particular system.  Intel recommends that users with affected drivers download and upgrade to the latest supporter driver version.  The driver with the highest last number is the latest.  For example, is a later version than because 4835 is a higher number than 4703.



Intel highly recommends that users with affected drivers download and upgrade to the latest supported driver.  
• If practical, update affected drivers from the system manufacturer’s support site.
• Alternatively, Intel provides the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant on to assist customers in identifying and installing the correct driver for their system.
• Customers can also search directly for a driver compatible with their system, download it, and install it
