Setting Up Programming Options |
|
After successfully compiling a design, you can open the Programmer and set options that control device programming. You can control the device configuration, and you can select from a variety of programming file formats for use in further programming or device configuration.
The Programmer also allows you to make changes to existing settings, and you can turn on programming options for background processes, such as monitoring progress and automating procedures. Different programming options are available in different programming modes, as follows:
In JTAG mode, you can add, program, or configure Quartus II– supported FPGA devices, configuration devices, MAX II, MAX 3000 devices, and MAX 7000 devices together in a chain. However, the programming options (except for Program/Configure) apply only to configuration devices, MAX II, MAX 3000 devices, and MAX 7000 devices. Accordingly, if you select an FPGA device in the Device list, the programming options (except for Program/Configure) on the Programmer are unavailable for the selected device.
In Active Serial Programming mode, all programming options except Security Bit are available for the single EPCS1, EPCS4, EPCS16, EPCS64, EPCS128, or EPCS256 serial configuration device.
In Passive Serial mode, all programming options are unavailable.
When using In-Socket Programming mode, all programming options are available for a single configuration device, a MAX II, MAX 3000 device, or a MAX 7000 device.
If you do not select an option for a particular device in the chain, the Programmer performs no action on that device during programming or configuration.
To specify configuration scheme options for a device:
