Convert Programming Files Dialog Box |
You open this dialog box by clicking Convert Programming Files on the File menu. |
Allows you to combine and/or convert one or more type of Quartus II software object file, such as Mask Settings File (.msf), Partial-Mask SRAM Object File (.pmsf), SRAM Object Files (.sof), or Programmer Object Files (.pof) into one of the file formats that support device configuration schemes for all Altera devices supported by the Quartus II software.
Allows you to open or import a Conversion Setup File (.cof).
Allows you to save the changes you made in the Convert Programming Files dialog box to a Conversion Setup File (.cof).
Allows you to specify a device configuration file format to which the selected file is converted.
Output
programming file options:
Opens one of the following output programming file options dialog boxes based on the type of output programming file selected in the Programming file type list, the type of configuration device selected in the Configuration device list, and whether a Programmer Object File is selected in the Input files to convert list.

Important: When you use the Options dialog box, you can specify a Start Address using Properties for the SOF Data under Input files to convert. When you specify a CFI flash device in the Configuration device list, the Options dialog box prompts you for the address of the Option bit address (32-bit hexadecimal), which should match the address that you enter in the altparallel_flash_loader megafunction. |
Opens the Convert Programming Files - Advanced Options dialog box, which allows you to turn on or off Disable EPCS ID check and Disable AS mode CONF_DONE error check. These advanced options affect bitstream generation. You can set these three options to one of three possible, as follows:
Default—An indeterminate state, in which the options appear checked or unchecked, depending on which device family you choose. Refer to the following examples:
If you convert a Cyclone device and you use the 128Mb configuration device, but the Quartus II software does not support the 128Mb device, the options are turned on. Both options turned on indicates that both the EPCS ID and the AS mode CONF_DONE error check are disabled.
Unchecked—Turns off the settings for the two options.
Checked—Turns on the settings for the two options.
Specifies the target configuration device that you want to program with the programming file type you specified in the Programming file type list.
When creating a Programmer Object File for Remote Update or a Programmer Object File for Local Update, the Configuration device list is automatically set to the configuration device used by the Programmer Object File you added to the POF Data item.
Specifies the configuration scheme used by the programming file. The selected mode determines the contents of the Input files to convert list.
Each bit of a programming file in a selected serial mode can contain a Passive Serial chain.
Selecting Active Serial mode limits the choices of configuration devices in the Configuration device list to the erasable programmable configurable serial configuration (EPCS) devices.
Selecting Active Parallel mode limits the choices of configuration devices in the Configuration device list to CFI devices.
Remote/Local
update difference file:
Specifies the type of remote update difference file or local update difference file, if any, you want to create when you generate a Programmer Object File for Remote Update (.pof) or Programmer Object File for Local Update (.pof).
Create
Memory Map File (Generate output_file.map):
Allows you to turn on or off the ability for the Quartus II software to generate a Memory Map File (.map) when it generates a Programmer Object File for an EPC4, EPC8, EPC16, or CFI configuration device; a POF for Remote Update; or a POF for Local Update.
Create
CvP files (Generate output_file.periph.pof and output_file.core.rbf):
Allows you to turn on or off the option to auto generate CvP files.
A visual representation of configuration memory space that lists information about programming file names and their associated devices in a JTAG chain. The contents of the Input files to convert list varies depending on the configuration device and programming file type combinations.
Opens the Add Hex Data dialog box.
Adds SOF data to the Input files to convert pane, which allows you to store data from other .sof files in a different page.
Opens the Select Devices dialog box when JTAG Indirect Configuration File (.jic) is selected in the Programming file type list and the Flash Loader item is selected in the Input files to convert list.
Opens the Add File dialog box when creating all other output programming file types.
Removes the selected item from the Input files to convert list.

Note: In a POF for Remote Update or a POF for Local Update, this option does not remove the POF Data item. |
If you select a SOF Data item in the Input files to convert list in the Convert Programming Files dialog box, clicking Properties opens the SOF Data Properties dialog box.
If you select Hex Data in the Input files to convert list in the Convert Programming Files dialog box, clicking Properties opens the Properties dialog box.
If you select an SRAM Object File for supported device(Cyclone III, Cyclone IV, or Stratix III) families in the Input files to convert list in the Convert Programming Files dialog box, clicking Properties opens the SOF File Properties dialog box.
If you select a Partial-Mask SRAM Object File (.pmsf) for Stratix V devices in the Input files to convert list in the Convert Programming Files dialog box, clicking Properties opens the PMSF File Properties dialog box.
