Displays device families available for configuration, programming, or bypassing in a JTAG chain. The Device name list displays the available devices from the selected device family. Turning on the check box next to a device family name turns on the check boxes of all the available devices in that family. When you turn on the check box next to a device, you indicate that you want to add that device to the Device list of the programming list in the Programmer.
Note: The Virtual JTAG Tap shown in the Device name list is a software-only version of a JTAG controller, which you can use in system-level debug applications.

Opens the Import User-Defined Device dialog box, which allows you to import user-defined devices from a Quartus User-Defined Device File (.qud). User-defined devices imported from a Quartus User-Defined Device File are listed under the Device name list when User Defined is selected in the Device family list.
Opens the Export User-Defined Device dialog box, which allows you to export user-defined devices in a Quartus User-Defined Device File (.qud). The Quartus User-Defined Device File contains all user-defined devices listed under the Device name list when User Defined is selected in the Device family list.
Opens the Edit Device dialog box, which allows you to edit the attributes of a user-defined device. Names of user-defined devices appear in the Device Name list when you select User Defined from the Device Family list.
Note: In a Programmer Object File (.pof) for an EPC4, EPC8, or EPC16configuration device, this option does not remove the Main Block Data or Bottom Boot Data items. In a POF for Remote Update or a POF for Local Update, this option does not remove the POF Data item.
