Working With Assignments in the Assignment Editor

Assignments allow you to specify various options and settings for the logic in your design, including location, timing, logic option, and parameter assignments. You can use the Assignment Editor to add, edit, or delete assignments for selected nodes; display information about specific assignments; enable or disable individual assignments; and add comments to an assignment. On the Assignments menu, click Assignment Editor.
Click the New Assignment button in the Filter to create a new row in the spreadsheet, or click in the row after the last assignment.
In the From, To, or Entity columns, specify the node(s) or group names to which the assignment is applied. If the assignment applies only to a single-point or entity, such as a Synthesis assignment, enter or select the node or entity name in the To column. Node names are specified by location and type. For example, PIN_A1 denotes device pin A1.
Enter or select values for the Assignment Name, Value, and Enabled columns based on the nodes or entities you specify. To access a drop-down list for a cell, double-click the cell. If you create a location assignment, click the Browse button in the Value cell to open the Location dialog box. In the Location dialog box, select a type of device resource and a specific location,and then click OK to specify the value for the assignment.
Refer to the Status column for reports of missing or incorrect entries for the assignment.
On the File menu, click Save Project.

On the Assignments menu, click Assignment Editor.
Locate the assignment and type any comments directly in the Comment column of the Spreadsheet.
On the File menu, click Save Project to save the changes.

On the Assignments menu, click Assignment Editor.
In the Enabled column in the Assignment Editor, specify whether the assignment is enabled.

On the Assignments menu, click Assignment Editor.
On the File menu, click Export.
If necessary, select a target directory in the Save in list.
Select a file to overwrite in the Files list, or type the file name in the File name box.
Click Export.

You can sort the contents of the columns alphabetically by clicking the column headers. When you select a column header, a triangle icon indicates whether the column is sorted by ascending or descending values. You can also change the order of the columns by dragging and dropping a column to a different location in the Spreadsheet.

More columns are available in the Spreadsheet than are displayed by default. For example, you can display the "special" and "general" functions of device pins by turning on the Special and General columns. To make additional information visible, right-click in a cell, and then click Customize Columns.
