Monday, September 16

Programming kicks off on Monday, September 16 with Arun Gupta, VP and GM of the Intel Open Ecosystem, introducing the Open Platform for Enterprise AI, a new project under the LF AI & Data Foundation. OPEA aims to enable the creation of open, multi-provider, robust, and composable GenAI solutions that harness the best innovation across the ecosystem. Learn more about it and how you can get involved. 

Intel Open Source AI Evangelist Ezequiel Lanza discusses how to navigate the rapidly changing world of AI and concepts like superhuman intelligence in his talk Beyond the Buzz: Navigating AI’s Myths and Realities. Join Eze for an in-depth discussion that challenges conventional perspectives and provides practical insights into the intersection of AI and reality. 
 

Also on Monday, Intel Chief Open Source Compliance Officer Alexios Zavras addresses your most pressing SBOM Open Questions regarding the creation, distribution, and practical use of software bill of materials (SBOMs) in his informative afternoon session.
 

Tuesday, September 17

Intel Open Source Security Evangelist and host of the Open At Intel podcast, Katherine Druckman, joins Ezequiel Lanza on Tuesday, September 17 to present a joint session outlining the common pain points involved in building LLM-based generative AI applications. They’ll be highlighting how to use retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques and connect them to open solutions. Don’t miss Simplifying Generative App Development: Why Standards Matter.    
 

Wednesday, September 18

Wrapping up the event on Wednesday, September 18, Katherine Druckman takes you Back to Security Basics with a practical session covering the important challenges in securely consuming open source software. You’ll learn to evaluate projects based on active maintenance, patch cycles, and vulnerability managemen,t among other topics. You get one last chance to catch Alexios Zavras on Wednesday as well as he delves into the details of Advancing Transparency and Security in Software with a look at the newly released version of System Package Data Exchange (SPDX), a freely available ISO standard that provides a set of specifications for communicating SBOM information. Linux Security Conference 

Monday, September 16  

Intel Cloud Software Engineer, Mikki Ylinen discusses the basics of confidential computing (CC) and Linux Keyring. The main focus of the talk is to discuss how Linux Keyring can be leveraged to hide the attestation details in different use cases and some of the benefits it brings. We'll be demonstrating the ideas using two examples: filesystem encryption key provisioning and attestation token provisioning. 

 

SOSS Community Day 

Thursday, September 19 

Picking up right where she left off, Katherine Druckman is providing opening and closing remarks for SOSS Community Day along with an interactive TTX session alongside members of the OpenSSF that will simulate a security incident to achieve goals to support upcoming EU software regulation changes. This session won’t be recorded, so your only chance to see it is IRL.
