About Intel® Future Skills

At Intel, our goal is to create world-changing technology that enriches the lives of every person on Earth. In 2016, we created the Intel® Future Skills platform to ensure that the next generation has access to the framework needed for a lifetime of problem solving and discovery through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) learning.

Why Intel® Future Skills?

Intel® Future Skills projects are based on the same design thinking methodology used by the world’s top innovators—a proven learning platform that builds confidence and capacity for creative problem solving. Students are challenged with hands-on, real-world innovation projects that encourage them to think differently, fail fast, and develop a growth mindset.

Access to Innovation for Everyone

We believe that all students should have access to quality STEAM learning, no matter their zip code, income bracket, or current skill level. Students don’t need a base understanding of coding or a background in technology to participate in Intel® Future Skills, because the program meets them wherever they are in their learning journey.

It is the mission of Intel® Future Skills to ensure people of all backgrounds have job opportunities in technology so technology industries can create better products to serve all communities.

Skills for an Evolving Job Market

As we navigate the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is estimated that between 2017 and 2027, the number of STEAM jobs will grow 13%, compared to 9% for non-STEAM jobs—with positions in computing, engineering and advanced manufacturing leading the way. (Source: Education Commission of the States).

Our education system is tasked with preparing young people for a job market with an extremely high demand for STEAM skill sets. Using technology to access and consume content in and outside of the classroom is no longer enough—students will need tools and training to understand, analyze, solve problems, and ultimately create solutions never before imagined.
