Part 4—A History of the Arduino* Community

The story of open-source hardware (OSH) might be best illustrated by the success of the Arduino* platform and community. In this video, Tom Igoe traces the history of open-source hardware back to 1990, starting with contributions from Bill Verplank at Xerox PARC, as well as Dan O’Sullivan at Apple, and contributors from key institutions such as New York University (NYU) and their interactive telecommunications program (ITP), where Tom started teaching in 1998.
