Intel® Itanium® 2-Based HP Integrity Servers To Boost Volvo IT
MUNICH, Germany, June 3, 2004 - Intel Corporation and HP today announced that Volvo IT, a subsidiary of leading commercial transport solutions supplier AB Volvo, will deploy a cluster of Intel® Itanium® 2 processor-based HP Integrity servers to help increase business and cost efficiencies across its operations.
Volvo IT will deploy servers to power its mission-critical SAP* solution. The Itanium 2 processor-based HP Integrity rx8620 servers running HP-UX 11i will be deployed at the computer operations center at Volvo IT's worldwide headquarters in Gothenberg, Sweden.
Volvo IT has been looking to find a new hardware platform that would deliver the performance to quickly process data-intensive tasks across Volvo IT global operations and provide headroom for future processing needs. Extensive evaluation by HP for Volvo IT at the HP Solution Center in Germany demonstrated that the Itanium 2 processor-based HP Integrity servers delivered leading-edge performance and scalability to help meet the business needs for a reliable and flexible platform.
